Hi, I'm Hogie!

Hi Neighbor! I'm Andrew Hogan, aka "Hogie." I'm a father to three girls and a life-long Northern Virginia resident. After years of working a corporate job, I was ready for a change. I craved a meaningful way to earn a living that gave back to the community while also getting me away from my desk. I wanted to prove to my girls that, in our family, we value making a difference. But how would I make this a reality...

In conversations with my neighbors, we commiserated about the hassle of having to manually take our glass to the recycle centers. From this sparked my "ah ha" moment and birth of the idea for Hogie's Glass Pickup. I decided to do some further research to ensure there wasn't an alternative and that we were not alone in our frustrations. A few quotes best summarize the themes I started hearing: "It's so hard to find the time;" "I am too old to haul a 20 pound bin around town;" "I get so annoyed with the whole process, especially when the purple bins are full." Others simply admitted that they do not recycle glass at all because of the inconvenience. I found no good alternatives and decided to setup Hogie's Glass Pickup, a simple but reliable glass pickup service designed to ease the burden of recycling glass for my local community. I am really excited about this endeavor and I'm hoping my neighbor's find this service as a breath of fresh air, to recycle without the hassle.

When I'm not picking up glass for my neighbors, you can find me on hikes with my two dogs, with my wife supporting our kids' activities around the neighborhood, or cheering on the Commanders.
